Passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2003 in Kalamazoo. Jane was born January 27, 1904 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Grant W. and Grace T. Porter. On June 3, 1925, in Chicago, she married John M. Macdonald III. They lived in many areas of the Midwest, moving to Otsego in 1947. She served as First Reader of the Christian Science Society in Otsego for 19 years, and was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist of Boston, MA. Jane was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Otsego Public Library, and the Order of Eastern Star Otsego. She also served as the Past Grand Committee woman for two Grand Chapters. Surviving are 2 sons and 2 daughters and their spouses, John M. (Joanne) Macdonald of Sarasota, FL, Grant W. (Marilyn) Macdonald of Kalamazoo, Grace Alice Mashaw of Tangshan, China, Alma (Arnold) Mabile of Vienna, VA; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1977; and an infant grandson, Herb. Friends may meet the family from 6 to 9 p.m. p.m. Friday at

where an Eastern Star service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. followed by a Christian Science service with her son, Grant W. Macdonald officiating. Interment will be at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to O.E.S. Chapter #169, Otsego or the First Church of Christ, Scientist of Kalamazoo.
