6. CIVILIAN DRESS

a.       Civilian dress on duty.

            (1) Civilian clothes will not be worn by personnel in a duty status unless specifically authorized by individual Commanding Officers.

b.       Military clothing as civilian dress.

            (1) U.S. Navy Uniform Regulations delineates those items of uniform which do not present a distinctive naval appearance and are not readily identifiable as parts of the uniform which may be worn with civilian clothing. With those specific exceptions, uniform articles may not be worn with civilian clothes.

c.       Appropriate civilian dress.

            (1) The most important feature in wearing civilian clothing is that it be clean, neat and in good condition. In addition, it should be appropriate to current good taste for the activity and occasion. Gross violations of good taste in the wearing of civilian clothing, particularly in the area of cleanliness and neatness, should be avoided.

d.       Inappropriate civilian dress on board NTC.

            (1) Athletic clothes, unless engaged in going to or from recreational sports activity.

            (2)           Footwear similar to bedroom slippers, ''flip‑flops,'' shower clogs, etc., designed for wearing indoors should not be worn on the street.

            (3) Shoes without socks with the exception of sandals. (In any event, going bare foot on the Naval Training Center is not authorized).

            (4) Extreme or eccentric attire, including headbands and earrings by male personnel.

            (5) Any clothing with obscene, profane, or indelicate insignia, printing or pictures,

            (6) Tailed shirts worn outside of trousers.

            (7) Bathing suits or sunbathing attire for other than swimming or sunbathing.

            (8) Garments that are torn or not hemmed. For example, shirts or trousers wherein the sleeves or legs have been cut or torn off without being hemmed.

            (9) Any garment which is excessively worn, frayed, soiled or unpressed.

            (10) Undershirts should not be worn without a covering shirt.

            (11) Tank tops, halter tops/shorts.

e.  Visiting Mexico.

            (1) Unofficial visits to Mexico will be made in appropriate civilian clothes.

f.  Sick call.

            (1) Civilian clothes will not be worn to sick call except on weekends and holidays or in emergencies.
