5. Prescribed Uniforms a. Uniform of the Day/Working Uniforms. Commanding Officer, Recruit Training Command is authorized to prescribe special uniforms and military appearance requirements for recruits as necessary to meet specific requirements of the training curriculum. Uniforms for personnel attached to Service School Command Annex shall follow the uniform requirements as prescribed by the Commanding Officer, Naval Station, San Diego. b. Organizational Clothing. This is clothing normally issued to an individual by the command on a loan basis. This command has no allowance for any organizational clothing except for NBC defense protective clothing, which, when authorized, shall be worn only when directly involved in the work requiring its wear. Organizational clothing issued elsewhere (flight gear, foul weather gear, etc.) is not authorized for wear on the Naval Training Center. c. Practices considered both inappropriate and unacceptable while on board NTC: (1)Smoking, eating or drinking while in uniform as a pedestrian. (2)Walking or standing with hands in pockets while in uniform. (3)Playing transistor radios or tape recorders while walking in uniform.
d. Sponsors are responsible for the appearance of their dependents and guests. e. UNIFORMS FOR SUMMER PERIOD (Commences fourth Monday in April) Uniform of the Day (Note 1). SUMMER NOTES:
(1) Required uniforms for wear all day on Fridays while on board the Naval Training Center. Except for officers and participants in recruit reviews, Tropical White Long is not a prescribed uniform on board the Naval Training Center. However, Tropical White Long is an authorized liberty uniform within the Eleventh Naval District during the summer period. (2) For classes and evolutions which extend beyond normal working hours, Commanding Officers may prescribe the appropriate working, uniform in lieu of the uniform of the day Similarly, it is recognized that the nature of duties performed frequently dictates that individuals wear the uniform of the day when working uniforms have been prescribed. In both cases, the appropriateness of the uniform and group/divisional uniformity, not personal preferences, shall be the govering criteria. (3) Not authorized [or shore leave/Liberty. May be worn to and from work and as specifically authorized by U.S. Navy Uniform Regulations. (4) Authorized only 6, prescribed by Commanding Officers for duties for which basic working uniforms are considered inappropriate. May be worn off base only by authorized working parties and may not be worn to and from work or on liberty. 9. WINTER NOTES: (1) Required uniform for wear all day on Fridays while on board the Naval Training Center. (2) Vest is optional with Service Dress Blue uniform only. (3) For classes and evolutions which extend beyond normal working hours, Commanding Officers may prescribe the appropriate working uniform in lieu of the uniform of the day. Similarly, it is recognized that the nature of duties performed frequently dictates that individuals wear the uniform of the day when working uniforms have been prescribed. In both cases, the appropriateness of the uniform and group/divisional uniformity not personal preferences, shall be the governing criteria. (4) Winter blue uniform is also an authorized watch standers uniform for male personnel. The blue working jacket is not authorized for wear with the winter blue uniform. Although only prescribed as a working uniform at the Naval Training Center, the winter blue uniform is also an authorized liberty uniform within the Eleventh Naval District during the winter period. (5) Authorized only as prescribed by Commanding Officers for which basic working uniforms are considered inappropriate. May be worn off base only by authorized working parties and may not be worn to and from work or on liberty. (6) Coats may be removed when in offices or classrooms. |
